Used Containers for sale in the UK
We offer a range of good condition ‘used’ containers for sale, with delivery available throughout the UK.
Our range of second-hand containers includes both standard container sizes; 20ft and 40ft. We are also able to source many other more specialised containers in good used condition. Used units are ideal for both shipping and storage, but they’re also great as a base product for conversion projects. Get in touch with us to discuss your requirements, we’d love to help you buy a used container.
Our used range of shipping containers is sourced from container depots (and other locations) throughout the UK and beyond. If we don’t have the type of container you’re looking for in our stock at the moment, we’ll always try to find you a good quality, structurally sound, used container at the best resale price possible by using our contacts. We want to make buying a used container from us easy, so if you have any questions, just ask.
Used container sales stock/prices
Our second-hand shipping container stock is often sold (to us) on a next from stack basis, so we can’t always guarantee the colour of the units we provide. Used units are typically used by shipping lines on container ships for international shipping for a number of years; before being replaced within the shipping fleet, at this point, these units are released for resale to resellers like us. All used containers released to us for resale are checked to ensure they are still in good serviceable condition, they are wind/watertight and should last you a further 20-25 years if well looked after.
Please Note: the used sales prices that we are able to offer are calculated based on several factors as outlined below. The base cost of used containers does fluctuate up and down, but it’s primarily driven by availability and the base price of corresponding new units (used unit prices tracking the equivalent new unit prices).
Your Delivery Location – this will affect our delivery costs; we’ll always try and keep delivery costs as low as possible but the cost will largely depend on the distance your location is from one of our depots. Collection, if possible would prevent this additional cost.
Your Offloading Requirements – this will determine which type of vehicle we need to deliver your container on – if you can offload the container yourself when it arrives – we may be able to use a vehicle without a HIAB so this would reduce delivery costs.
The Number of Used Units you require – if you are looking to purchase more than one used container, we may be able to offer you each container at a slightly reduced price. If you buy more than one used unit at a time – we can often combine delivery (especially for smaller units e.g. 2 x used 10fts), if only one delivery driver and vehicle can be used delivery costs can be reduced.
The Base Container Cost – the price we are able to offer our customers largely comes down to the price at which we are able to buy in used containers. We always try and offer the lowest prices possible.

Converting used shipping containers
We also offer a container conversion service, should you need it! Used 10ft, 20ft and 40ft containers are the ideal starting point for conversion projects due to their reduced initial cost – especially if you’re planning on cladding or re-painting the container as part of the conversion. Buying a relatively cheap shipping container in good used condition is a great starting point for many conversion projects.
If you’re looking for a bespoke conversion job or even a more common conversion such as a chemical store, portable office, construction site office, storeroom or workshop – give us a call. Take a look at some of our conversion case studies here – view some of our previous container conversions.
Storage
Used containers are also often used as storage units. Commercially they’re used by self-storage companies to provide their customers with reliable, secure storage. Second-hand containers are also used by private individuals for secure on-site storage, replacing the standard garden shed in a garden or on an allotment with a more robust, wind and watertight storage option.

International shipping with a used container
If you’re looking for a used container for shipping goods overseas, we can arrange for the unit to be re-certified and have its CSC plate updated. All containers used for overseas shipping must have a valid CSC plate fitted, certifying its condition; before it can be used for transporting goods, certification usually lasts for 12 months as per the industry standard. If you’d like a CSC plated container – please let our sales team know during your enquiry.
