40ft Laboratory and product testing facility – shipping container conversion

Breakdown of the Project

We received an online enquiry for a bespoke container conversion using a 40ft new ‘one trip’ high cube shipping container modified into a product testing facility with and office space for a number of employees. The customer provided us detailed drawings of the layout for the container, as it needed to be split into 3no. separate rooms.

Behind the cargo doors we fabricated an air tight sealed dust chamber where there would be able to conduct the product testing. In the second compartment we installed a secure room where they installed their own analysis equipment. Finally in the majority of the container we installed a communal space including a small kitchenette and space for breakouts.

The conversion was delivered to site in 7 weeks from confirmation of order.

Conversion breakdown

  • Partitioned internally into 3no. sections.
    • 28ft Communal area.
    • 6ft Compressor assessment area.
    • 6ft Dust Chamber.

  • Set of secure double personnel doors within the side wall (1784mm x 1995mm) leading into the 28ft area.
  • 1000mm x 1000mm opening widows with steel security shutters in 28ft area opposite side panel to secure double personnel doors.
  • Sink, drainer and worktop across the back of the unit.
  • 28ft area lined internally with 9mm white faced washable melamine wallboards
    • Over 50mm Rockwool insulation.
• 6ft Compressor Area.
  • 6ft compressor area accessed internally from the 28ft area via a wood door in partition.
  • Lined internally with 9mm white faced washable melamine wallboards.
    • Over 50mm Rockwool insulation.

• 6ft Dust chamber
  • Fully sealed steel partition fitted between dust chamber and assessment area.
  • Hatch fitted into steel partition as specified by client.
  • Chamber fitted out with steel flooring with mesh fitted on top, dimensions as specified by client.
  • Resprayed internally in RAL7035.
• Throughout the container conversion 3 phase electrical installation.
  • 32amp 5 pin plugs.
  • 13amp double sockets.
  • strip lights.
• Resprayed externally to clients specified RAL code – RAL5015.
