The Conversion Brief

Our in-house design and fabrication team were set a challenge to design and build a bespoke shipping container coffee shop. Converted from a new 10ft shipping container, internal and external modifications were installed including a dual fuel system of gas and electricity. A bespoke built dual axle trailer was also created to allow the coffee shop to be towed throughout the UK for upcoming events. 

Breakdown of the Project

A local business approached us to explore the idea of expanding their options when hosting events, and to increase their brand visibility when at trade shows. The challenge that was presented to our in-house design and fabrication team was to design and build a bespoke coffee shop container conversion that was both able to be used static and mobile.  

The completed container conversion could easily be utilised for other purposes such as a shipping container bar or a gin bar. The internal equipment can easily be swapped out for other equipment making the unit multi-functional.

Coffee Shop Conversion Key Features 

  • 10ft x 8ft x 8ft6” New Build Container fitted with lock box. 
  • Dual serving hatches fitted. 
  • Aperture cut and 2000mm x 1000mm serving hatch fitted in left-hand side 10ft corrugated panel, secured internally with drop lock bolts. 
  • Additional 300mm x 300mm drop-down hatch fitted under the serving hatch for addition utensil storage. 
  • Aperture cut and 1800mm x 1000mm serving hatch in back 8ft corrugated panel secured internally with drop lock bolts. 

 

Conversion breakdown 

  • Additional 300mm x 300mm drop down hatch fitted under the serving hatch for addition utensil storage. 
  • Original double doors modified for internal opening, for staff safety. 
  • Lined internally with 9mm Plywood over 50mm Rockwool Insulation 
  • Internally cladded with reclaimed wood including door panels. 
  • 2x drop down timber clad serving shelves. 
  • Preparation benches made from 30mm box section steel, overlaid with stainless steel work tops, lowered at serving shelf area, 2 shelves, and space for double front under bench fridge (not supplied) 
  • Electrical installation including, 1x LED strip light, 5x quick release Pendant lights, 6x double sockets (electrical certificate supplied) 
  • Small undercounter sink and water pump. 
  • Non-slip vinyl floor fitted on top of existing 27mm hardwood flooring 
  • Dual fuel system fitted. 
  • Secure gas locker store with external opening space to fit 2 gas bottles. 
  • Electrical input fitted to rear of the container for mains power through ***** plug socket to three pin connectors. 
  • Gas Installation including, regulators, cut off tap, 3x quick release fittings, (gas certificate supplied) 
  • Externally resprayed in RAL7016 to match company colour scheme. 
  • A1 and A0 die cut company logo applied under the front serving hatch and the back of the container. 
  • Bespoke build 3500kg rated, galvanised trailer to accommodate the 10ft container coffee shop, including twist lock fittings. 

The container conversion was completed within 8-9 weeks from the confirmation of the order.

The trailer was also fabricated within an 8-9 week time-frame.
